The first State of Devs Central Asia study involved 28 developers and managers. In this article, we attach the main conclusions and screenshots. We thank all 28 developers for their active participation in the study! In fact , only people from Kazakhstan participated in the study this year.

Cities where respondents are physically located: Almaty, Astana, Aktobe, Atyrau, Shymkent, Ekibastuz.

Top cities where people work remotely while physically in Kazakhstan:

Average age – 26 years old (the youngest is 19, the mature is 44).

70% of respondents raised their salary in 2023.

Project hosting is located either in a Kazakhstani hosting provider or with American providers (AWS, GCP, Azure). None of the respondents stores data from Russian (mail cloud, Vk cloud, Yandex cloud) or Chinese providers (Alibaba Cloud, etc.) * (this visualization is not included in Lookerstudio).

The dominant number of respondents associate themselves with the profession of Front end developer.

The most popular tools for requirements development and design are Figma and Confluence (Atlassian).

The most popular The programming language of 2023 is Python.

IDE  - VS Code.

The most popular technology in the plans to study is Kubernetes and Machine learning.

The most eloquent wish: "... more often the hunt to benefit the locals, but then the management is not the same, then the processes are messy, then the proposed salary is scanty," end quote.

The study was conducted from December 28, 2023 to January 03, 2024 physically from the city of Almaty. In the next study, we will try to cover the whole of Central Asia.
