On May 17-18, Astana hosted the final of Kazakhstan's first Republican hackathon on artificial intelligence for schoolchildren — Skillset AI Hackathon 2025.

The organizers are the AZ GROUP educational company and the SKILLSET SCHOOLS School of Digital Technologies in cooperation with the Astana Daryn Center for the Identification and Support of Gifted Children and Talented Youth of the Astana City Akimat.  

151 teams, more than 350 participants from 9 regions of Kazakhstan participated in the hackathon, creating innovative projects based on artificial intelligence. It was a real event of ideas, technology and team spirit!

🔸 Stage 1: Qualification to the final: 151 teams (350+ participants) participated in the online qualification for the hackathon finals, where they used AI tools to develop a web platform with educational flashcards. 

🔸 Stage 2: 50 teams, 114 participants took part in the final, where they solved tasks for 2 cases:(1) Automated highlighter clipping and content generation for social media;(2) Privacy is a priority — a local anonymization tool for AI. The tasks were non-standard and required creative thinking and an unconventional approach from the participants.  

The work in the hackathon finals was evaluated by an independent expert commission consisting of nine jury members representing various organizations: Astana IT University, ITMO, KPMG, ABMCO, ISSAI Nazarbayev University, Argin Limited and Shuaq.

🥉 III place — Balenciaga Rocker team, Neuro - Pruntus team, RizZLeris team, all — Astana

Nominations:

🔹 Women in Tech — Altamaris team, Astana

🔹 Youngest Debut — Fortnite team, Pavlodar

The hackathon became a platform for young talents, where participants not only showed their skills, but also contributed to the development of AI in Kazakhstan. This is a sure step into the digital future of our country!
