Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov delivered a speech at the International Digital Forum "Digital Almaty 2025: Industrial AI – Technologies for a New Era" in Almaty.
On January 31, 2025, at the Digital Almaty 2025 forum, Yoram Wijngaarde, founder and CEO of Dealroom.co, will introduce Kazakhstan’s ecosystem on the world’s leading platform for startup and venture investment analysis for the first time.
Astana Hub, the largest tech park in Central Asia, has wrapped up 2024 by showing remarkable growth across all key metrics. Over the past year, tech park residents have attracted more than $177 million in investments, increased tech service exports to $481.5 million, and achieved total revenue of $1.3 billion. The creation of over 28,000 new jobs in the tech sector reflects robust development and a significant contribution to the country’s economy.
The international StartupBlink ranking, which evaluates startup ecosystems worldwide, has once again confirmed Kazakhstan’s leadership in Central Asia. The country secured the top position in the region and strengthened its global standing, ranking among the top 75 startup ecosystems in the world.
At an extended Government meeting, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov reported to the Head of State on the results of support measures for domestic manufacturers, the IT sector, social initiatives, and scientific advancements.
On January 24, 2025, Astana Hub and Ringi signed a partnership memorandum, marking a significant step toward fostering collaboration between Kazakhstan and Japan in the fields of technology and business. The document was signed by Tanat Uskembayev, Managing Director of Astana Hub, and Yerzhan Karatayev, CEO of Ringi. This partnership will unlock new opportunities for joint projects and strengthen ties between the two countries.
The informal side of Digital Almaty 2025 will bring together participants from all backgrounds—ranging from school students and university scholars to top digital industry leaders, startup founders, and investors—creating a unique ecosystem for idea exchange and innovation. This was highlighted by Daniya Akhmetova, Managing Director of Astana Hub, during a press conference at the Central Communications Service.
The year 2024 marked significant advancements in artificial intelligence. A Committee on AI was established, the AI Development Concept for 2024–2029 was approved, and a draft AI Law is currently in development. Additionally, Kazakhstan has created its own language model, KazLLM, which will serve as the foundation for a range of technological solutions. During a press conference at the Central Communications Service, Gizzat Baitursynov, Chairman of the Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Development at the MDDIAI, emphasized that applying this language model will drive the growth of the domestic IT services market.
Today, the Central Communications Service under the President of Kazakhstan hosted a press conference on the upcoming Digital Almaty 2025. As noted by Gizzat Baitursynov, Chairman of the Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Development, only a week remains until the start of the VII International Digital Almaty 2025 Forum—the largest digital event of the year.
